MEDIA RELEASE- FIRST FIRE ON WASTE

Australia’s first Energy Recovery facility has successfully achieved another significant milestone in its
commissioning progress, with the first fire on waste being achieved today.

The first fire on waste saw non-recyclable waste, which had been received from Local Authority and
Commercial & Industrial customers over the past few weeks, fed onto the combustion grate. The energy
released from this process will allow the boiler to maintain normal operations temperature without any
support fuel. This step is crucial in the commissioning process as it tests the facility’s ability to sustain
combustion and marks a critical transition toward full-scale operation.

The next stage of commissioning will involve synchronising the turbine, which will enable the plant to begin
generating power for the Western Power grid. Each phase of the commissioning process is rigorously tested
to ensure the facility meets all operational standards before moving into commercial operation. Once fully
operational, Kwinana Energy Recovery will divert up to 460,000 tonnes of waste per annum from landfill
and generator 38 megawatts of renewable baseload power.

Kwinana Energy Recovery will continue to work with all the Councils to provide information to their
residents and ratepayers, so that local households and businesses understand how the facility will provide
an integrated solution that diverts significant quantities of their waste from landfill and generate
renewable energy into the Western Power grid.
